To Be Present or Force, That Is the Question
On May 21st, 2024 the sun entered Gate 20, gifting us with the opportunity to surrender, however, the moon enters Gate 34 on May 23rd, 2024 which may make us feel like we need to make things happen.
This post is going to be about how the sun and moon are at odds with one another this week and how it stands to reason, you may be feeling a bit of that too. We are going to look at the energy the Sun is providing us with as an outward expression and how the moon is contradicting that within by showing us where we are at odds with allowing things to transpire.
Every 5 of 6 days the Sun enters a new vibrational frequency, we in the Human Design world like to call a 'Gate'. For reference the Sun traverses all 12 zodiac signs through out a year, it does the same, making it's way through all 64 gates of Human Design. I like to reference both Gene Keys and Human Design in these posts so my perspective is based on what I understand and sense, please deduce your own conclusions and take away only what resonates.
This article is dedicating to understanding and working with all aspects of energy this gate has to offer us. Some of you may only experience the gift, but most of you will have little tangos with shadow and I want to give you the tools you need to create a performative masterpiece.

Let's Get to Know Gate 20 A Little Bit
Gate 20 is located in Throat center which speaks to the energy of our expression and manifestation.
It represents our ability to be present with the sacredness in life even when things aren't going according to plan and creating fear. When fear is present we tend to be checked out in life hopping from one superficial experience to another or hyper focused on being busy in order to avoid the fear we are feeling. Sometimes this might manifest as an urge to make something happen because we fear sitting with our feelings in the present moment. Don't judge, just honor that might be the case for you and that being aware is half the battle.
Because it's an expressive energy it's very much about being aware of if your expression is present or if it's too far in the past or too far in the future. Quieting the mind is a big part of this energy and letting yourself experience your present moment as an expression of yourself.
Every gate (when utilized with the keys of Gene Keys) has a transformative energy. Each gate can help you transmute energy and engage in new energy. For this gate we recognize the old energy or what tends to become shadow behaviors and patterns of ourselves - as absent - or hectic. In our awareness, we get the opportunity to shift - with this gate it's quieting the mind and listening to your heart. And then, we embody the gift of the new energy - which for this gate is presence.

Are You Feeling Absent or Hectic?
Every time the Sun enters a new gate - we get a new energy frequency to play with. Sometimes this brings up old energy that we need to deal with and sometimes this brings about new opportunities, experiences + ideas.
The shadow will manifest as superficiality and may show up as being checked out of absent from life or trying to be so busy as if escaping the moment will allow escape of the fear. But being able to witness this or be aware of it is a HUGE gift because you are then conscious enough to make a decision about it. Sometimes understanding where you're avoiding the present moment out of fear gives you the opportunity to face your fears and settle into what is.
The more introverted form of this behavior is a sense of being absent. Really checked out in life. For example, you may see someone on their phone all the time, checking out of life and being absent to what is going on in the present moment. I will admit, I often do this. Especially when I'm out in public or with family and there is tension in the energy,, being super sensitive to the vibes, I will tend to go onto my phone to "escape" the surrounding energies. There is no judgement in this, but there is awareness and in that I can witness my fear or avoidance and do what I need for me.
The aggressive or extroverted version of this expression is hectic. We all know someone who is constantly busy and afraid to slow down. I think we've all been victim to this energy at some point in our lives. For some this is a fear that if you stop doing you'll cease to exist on some level or lose your momentum - for others' it's spurred on by fear. If I don't do something, things will fail or I will fail or things will be bad. I tend to do this in my own life when my bills are behind and I feel the fear of not doing something to make money and pay the bills. I'm avoiding what I'm really afraid of and trying to avoid those feelings by doing. But often, if I just let myself breathe and feel, I have a much easier time navigating my day and being in flow.

Let's Lean into Feeling More Self Assured
For some your awareness of where you're at is enough, for others breathing will bring you back to center. Basically whatever gets you to dissolve the fear and come back to the moment is what's going to work for you here. Sometimes it's not enough to want that for yourself, sometimes you do have to take action to create that for yourself. Make that moment a priority.
Your heart is always present and sure of you and your place in the present moment. It's generally the mind that has an issue with things. If you're becoming more disenchanted with your life, it may be time to listen more to your heart instead of the logical path you've been taught to take.
You can shift when you witness the superficiality in your life, as well as it’s affects on you, and choose to quiet the mind, listening to your heart.
Ok, what does that even look like? Here are some examples of that:
witness where you're running from how you feel about where things might go in your life - yes sometimes we need a spur into action but this will feel more manic
just take a moment to take 3 big breaths and focus on that
if you really want to get deep, analyze what you're really afraid of - chances are it stems from experiences you had in your childhood or adolescence that you're trying to avoid - but you may not be experiencing that again - it may just 'feel' like it
some of you may need to exercise the excess energy off before you can be calm and centered - go for walk, hike, get in a work out
busy your mind with things that calm you (if you know what brings you clarity and alignment - your human design variables - use those)
call in source or connect with someone that brings you peace of mind

How Present Are You?
Ultimately, how present you are depends on how self assured you feel. When you feel sure of yourself and your path and your life - you feel at peace with the present moment.
Embodying the gift about you feeling at peace with yourself and your existence in this moment.
But here is the kicker - this is not an exact science and it's not about never feeling fear or experiencing fear. This is about recognizing how you respond to the fear you're feeling and giving yourself the chance to shift gears into something that feels better. How you go about that may differ every time you're feeling pressured by the experiences in your life.
I don't believe we are here to feel peace all the time - I'm not sure we are meant to completely void our humanness and so much of our humanness comes from the myriad of experiences we have with our emotions. But I do know, that no state, deemed good or bad, is meant to be experienced for long periods of time. So, if you get anything out of this, maybe it's the ability to shift out of the the less desirable states we tend to get into when fear is involved, quicker.

So How Does The Moon Fit Into All of This???
The moon is in Gate 34 which can often bring us self awareness but it often will bring up an energy of needing to force things to happen - which could amplify the fear and project us into a need to act when there isn't any action to take. If you've been feeling a little restless and feeling like you need to make things happen but have no clear direction on how to do that, this could be why.
It's going to amplify anxiety and really force us to take a look at what we are reacting to. Being that it's the moon, it's an inner energy, which is actually beneficial because transmutative properties of this gate want us to go within instead of seeking external validation. But if you're anxiously waiting for something to manifest externally for you as recognition of your effort in some way - it may amplify things.
